AKA Photo-shoot
Every now and again I visit somewhere and think “OMG! I have to do a bridal photo-shoot here!” I fell in love the first evening I visited AKA Bar (Also Known As) with a close friend and hair-stylist, Tori. To say it is not your typical venue for a bridal shoot would be an understatement – 70s style lampshades, random wallpaper, half a bath as a sofa, umbrellas hanging from the ceiling – you can’t even begin to imagine….. In my mind it was the perfect place for a quirky mid-season shoot.
Yes I wanted to achieve some great images but I also wanted to work with like-minded creative people who would “get” the idea of using such a fab & funky venue :0) Choosing a hair stylist was easy – Tori has been a close friend and a recommended supplier of Butterfly Bridal Boutique’s for some time, she has worked at top London hair shows as well as in salons, as a mobile hairdresser, and more recently has started up her own training academy just down the road from the venue. It was a great opportunity for a couple of her students to be involved and see behind-the-scenes of a photo-shoot.
I put a request out on social media regarding my search for a photographer – I felt I needed a photographer who isn’t your “standard” wedding photographer (although his wedding photography is extremely professional) but someone that liked doing something a little different and could work within the unusual setting. James volunteered himself, and after looking at his Facebook page and chatting for a while, I realised he would be perfect!
James also suggested Lucy as our MUA (the bright red hair sold it for me!) – from the moment I met her I knew she was experienced at photo-shoots so was fantastic at helping me and guiding the models.
Bow braids – this was the very first time I’d seen this done and LOVE it!!
Sometimes work can be fun!!
